Here's Maarit enjoying her favorite food....Mexican beans and rice, interesting for someone who is not yet 2! Great for parents because we love it too. This Ernie was her Daddy's Ernie when he was a baby...she bites on his nose just like her Daddy did, how precious.

We celebrated friend Aiden's 3rd Birthday by taking a train ride in Duluth along the St. Louis River. Maarit loved the train. It is a historic train which used to be the first to run between Duluth and the Twin Cities. The car we rode in was from 1912 with most of the original seats and fixtures.
The train rides along a low bridge through a lake and there is an outdoor car where you can see all around. Maarit would have liked to stay in this car, but it got pretty chilly that day.

She wanted a picture of our red sunflowers too.
...and checking out the insides of the first pumpkin. We made pie and pumpkin bread out of this big guy. It was so very yummy! There are quite a few more still ripening up in the garden.
My grandmother came to visit on Labor Day. Maarit enjoyed showing Great Grandma her room, her trains and her tree castle. She wanted Great Grandma to come up into the tree castle and play, but instead we looked at gardens and had a nice visit. Harpur apparently had to be a part of the picture too!

School has started now and Maarit is so happy to have Nana at her 'own home' to play with her every day. She doesn't even miss us when we're gone, most days she tells us "No come by me! Me playing with Nana!" It's pretty awesome to know she's so content and thrilled to be with her Nana. How lucky we are.
