It is early November and still about 55 degrees and lovely each day. We have not experienced any of the torrential down pours that we saw in the first week of October, which is nice! Although our walks to school have been quite dark because of the mørktid, we are enjoying seeing flowers still blooming and not bundling up in hats and big coats in November!
Maarit enjoys the Geoparken, we go quite often on the weekends. Here she is today after eating an extra large pølser. Sweet little ketchup face.
An early morning visit to feed the swans at Swan Beach.
This picture is out of order, but this is Maarit dressed up as a black and white kitty ("Like Tommy!") for Halloween on Monday. She had fun dressing up at school with her friends.
More swan feeding. These are, we learned, Mute Swans. The baby is starting to turn white. We enjoy seeing them every day and they like our old bread. I don't think they will leave for the winter. I hope not anyway. They are such beautiful birds and it has been interesting watching their baby grow up.
Maarit playing at Geoparken last weekend. The graffiti here was encouraged (or so we read) to make the park more interesting and colorful. It is indeed colorful. Unlike the States the graffiti isn't full of swear words and icky messages. (Not that I can read in Norwegian or English anyway). It is mostly colorful swirls and 'tagging'. Some of it is fairly pretty.

These are a bit out of order.... Here is Maarit with a push up that she bought from the local ice cream truck. It comes down our street about once a week and plays classic ice cream truck music. However, unlike the ice cream trucks of my childhood, this truck is actually more like a Schwann's home delivery. We were surprised to learn that you have to buy a whole box of ice cream treats, rather than just one. Oh well, it was fun standing in the blustery wind and flagging down the truck- a first for our girl. Maarit picked these push ups with "the silly clown on" and has been seriously enjoying them.

Maarit waiting with her money purse for the truck to come back down our street. So proud to have her own kroner. She takes the change from my wallet and puts it into hers. She has actually got quite a bit of money in her purse since one of the coins here is worth about $4.
Our weeks go by so quickly and calmly. We are still enjoying the pace and quality of our lives here very much. We do miss our family and friends...skype and facetime have been wonderful, it helps us to not feel so far away. We are looking forward to visiting with everyone -in about 5 weeks we will be back in Minnesota. It will be wonderful to spend time with our loved ones and encourage people to come visit us here in this amazing place.
