Last week we travelled to Itasca State Park with the Mattsons and Kochs. Maarit was so excited to see her cousins Chloe and Hanna, she talked about it for a week before. We counted down the moons (moons=nights or sleeps until something happens- her invention not ours) until we would go. She was so excited. Unfortunately it was pretty rainy and stormy the whole time we were there. We had windows of sunny weather and we took advantage of everyone of them!
This may be my newest favorite picture of Maarit. I just love her sandy foot and her hat. She sat like that for a while on the beach, just so happy to be there.

Itasca with the Mattson & Koch families
Hang on to your hats folks, this is going to be a long one! Posts like this are the reason why I had to buy more picture space from Google! As Maarit would say "Ooh my gooooodness!"
The best of the family pictures from the Headwaters of the Mississippi...not the best of us, but cute nonetheless.
Case in point:
Cousins on the rocks a the Headwaters.

Maarit and Daddy on the rocks...she was trying to slide down into the water and had to be held back.....little Danger Mouse.
Having fun!
Mommy and Maarit checking out the water.
Maarit showing the water to "Big Baby"...her dolly.
Cousins before our Lake Itasca boat tour.
Maarit, planning her jump from the boat into the water.
Chloe and Maarit checking out the foggy day.
Our boat. Maarit loved this boat ride and talked about it the rest of the trip.

Nana, Chloe, Hanna and Maarit on the boat.

Our little Beautiful.
Catching bubbles. A favorite activity of the week.
Bubbles!
Hanna and Maarit catching the bubbles!
My favorite picture from the week. Chloe, Maarit and Hanna walking to the bridge.
I forgot a picture of the birds we saw on our boat trip so I will have to add that separately. Maarit also got very interested in Turtles on this trip because she saw turtle nests, eggs and turtles going to "hatch a babies!" Turtles were her biggest nature thrill of the week. It was fun to discover that with her. We watched a huge snapping turtle for a while one morning as it crawled across the lawn. Maarit was sure that it was going to "hatch a babies!"
