We returned to Norway safe and sound the 1st of August. Most of our first week home we spent unpacking and readjusting after jet-lag. Justin's mother arrived after we'd been home for 3 days to care for Maarit while Justin and I went back to school. She and Maarit had a good last week exploring all of Maarit's favorite playgrounds and going for long walks.
Last weekend we spent exploring around the area. Maarit was excited about old boats in the harbor downtown so we walked to town and visited the boats. There were 4 huge cruise boats in the harbor which greatly overshadowed the interesting old boats. Maarit loves to see the boats that are bigger than all the buildings.
Justin and I celebrated our 6th anniversary with a lunch out on a sunny Sunday afternoon on the 12th. That is a rare treat in Norway, we enjoyed it very much.
Maarit has been a big fan of the olympics so I have included a great sequence of her practicing her Long Jump. She runs from the deck and jumps over a sand shovel. She thinks it is the greatest sport.
Today was her first 1/2 day of school. She had a wonderful day, except she reported that she is the "only kid in my class who speaks English!" It will be amazing to see how quickly the other children learn English, but for now she is the only one. She is proud to be in the class for Preschool 3/4 B. So far there are only 8 in her class. She is really looking forward to next week when they begin full school days. She is so happy to be back.
