July 2012

These are a selection of pictures from the past month.  We spent a lot of time on the beach wherever we were due the extremely hot weather.

Maarit and her doggy.

Maarit's picture of the fireworks.

Visiting with Auntie Stephanie

Dino dress that I made for Maarit.

Cousins and watermelon!

Lucy and her friend "Maarti" these two little girls had lots of fun together this past month!

Justin and his pals playing The Best New Game Ever.

We had a lovely weekend in Duluth with friends from Justin's college years.
Maarit found this guy on the sidewalk on our nature walk.

All the kids on a floating log in Lake Superior.

Maarit built these for me. She said, "Mommy this is you and me holding hands."

Maarit and the Ericksons.  Fun times, always!

This photo makes me so sad.  On our last day in Northern Minnesota as we were packing up the car, Karhu somehow knew,  out of all the times that we had packed the car all summer and left for several days,  this time she knew that we were going for good and she would not leave the trunk.  She insisted she was coming with us. Absolutely broke my heart.

We visited my parents for a last visit to their farm as they are building a new house out on the Rush River. Maarit enjoyed lots of time with cousin Emma and she especially loved the slip n slide her cousins forgot at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Maarit and Emma with Great Grandma.

On Maarit's Name Day (July 20) we celebrated with a trip to Como Zoo to see animals and ride the rides. Maarit had a great time, she loved Driving School and Bumper Cars.

Grandpa and Grandma took Maarit for a special ice cream treat on her Name Day.  Of course, she picked Superman ice cream!

Chatting with Daddy on the cellphone.

Visiting a brewfarm with Adam and Nicole.

Maarit spent the car ride home sticking random letters on her feet. These were the four on the bottom of her foot.

July, although not yet over, has been filled with many visits with wonderful friends and family.  We are slowly packing for our trip back to Norway and looking forward to not living out of suitcases, but of course, sad to see our time with loved ones come to an end.
