Easter Weekend

Our Easter weekend was a fun filled weekend of visiting with Auntie Shanna and Uncle Bubs, playing with their huge dog, Kuma,  and enjoying our lake coming to life with all kinds of water birds.  We had such a lovely weekend playing outside and soaking up the spring sunshine.

One of the pairs of Trumpeter Swans who have made our lake home.

Maarit chopping some of the last ice.

The maiden voyage....an ice breaking mission.

Gus has eaten a lot of sand this weekend.

Kuma and Karhu had so much fun wrestling in the sand.

Gus loved going on canoe and paddle boat rides with his big sister.

Maarit had lots of fun dyeing eggs with Auntie and Uncle.  We also made a pinata!

Gus adored playing with Uncle.  He loves hanging out with the guys....drinking beers, playing ball...you know, guy stuff.

Gus riding Kuma ... so much fun!

Maarit standing next to Kuma to show how big he is....he could look on top of our counters. Big boy.

Our eggs turned out so pretty this year.

The sun came out and it was time to get back outside. Maarit enjoys this tree swing, even though it kind of scares me.

Maarit and Daddy paddling as the swans fly over.

Paddleboat rides with Auntie.

Gus stole Uncle's hat!

 Easter morning basket hunt.

Gus was excited about his new baseball glove.

 Painting our pinata.

Outdoor egg hunt fun!

Maarit got a new haircut and a "bang" as she calls it.  "This is my bang!"

Pinata breaking with friend Olivia! Gus went first, then Olivia and then Maarit smashed it apart!

A water dance of loons on our lake in a spring snowstorm.

Mommy and Gus watching the birds. He really enjoys looking at birds and little squirrels outside.

Hoping for more beautiful weekends on the lake.  Over Easter we saw: Canada geese, mallards, wood ducks, a diver, buffleheads, Trumpeter Swans, our eagle, osprey and loons. It is waterbird migration time and so interesting to watch all the different species.
