First Half of Summer 2016

Our summer started slowly....long days playing on the beach, slowly packing our house, long bike rides and hikes in Giants Ridge and waiting for our New Ulm closing date.  It was happy and semi-anxious time.  We enjoyed spending time with friends and family for some of the 'last visits' to the lake.  Our friends came to spend Memorial Day weekend with us for a fun camping and playing weekend.  Maarit especially enjoyed learning new games from the Pearson boys and played games all weekend with them! We enjoyed a visit from Koch's and Mattsons in early June and spent time with our friends in the area before we moved.

Gus's first sport picture.

A moment of adorableness.

Lester River crossing adventure!

My SuperMen!

Gus's Name Day:  He wanted to go shopping at Target (so funny!) and the next day we went to see Bears in Orr.

He had to dress up as Batman to go see the bears.

Batman with the belt he insisted Mommy create for him!

On rainy days Maarit and Gus spent time making a bit of art....all over the house and on each other!

My friend Christi and I ran in the Grandma's Half Marathon again this summer.  We were a little faster than our time last year. It was a beautiful day for a long run, sunny and cool.

Gus had a great time 'fighting' with Uncle Kurt when he was visiting!

Just before our move, Gus had his first ever haircut in a salon.  He thought it was great!   They cut his hair really short though.

We moved on June 30th! Nana and Papa came to help play with Gus and Maarit while we moved things in.  We had quite an adventure moving. The moving van was dead when Justin picked it up, our own truck broke down on the way to New Ulm and we ended up with a unplanned stay in St. Cloud on the way to our new home.  Nana and Papa picked up the truck for us on their way to help.

Our new house is a beautiful brick house built in 1914. It has all the charm and character of an early 20th Century home.  We love the woodwork and the built-ins.   The kiddos love the huge attic playroom.  Karhu likes being a retired guard dog in town.  She is enjoying short walks with the kids and sneaking up on the couches while we are out at playgrounds and splash parks.

Uncle Bubs, Autie Shanna and Aldrik came to visit us our first weekend.

So far the month of July has been all about swimming and playing at parks in our new town.  The State Park is a great spot for swimming and playing on the beach.  There are 2 small splash parks near our house and a huge splash park in Sleepy Eye just a few miles away.  We have worked hard to wear our kiddos out with bikes, hikes, swimming and lots of sun.
